This Privacy Policy explains how the DTC Bus Services mobile application (the "App", package com.delhi.busroutes) handles your information. We built the App to help you find Delhi bus routes and stops, track buses live and plan your journey. We care about your privacy and collect only what the App needs to work. By using the App you agree to this Policy.

In short: The App has no sign-up and does not ask for your name, phone number or email. It uses your device location to show nearby bus stops and live buses, and standard Google/Firebase tools to keep the App stable and send service notifications. We do not sell your personal data.

1. Information we collect

a. Location information

With your permission, the App accesses your device's approximate and precise location (GPS) to show bus stops and routes near you, center the map, find nearby routes and display live buses around your area. Your coordinates are used on your device and may be sent to our servers only to look up the stops and routes close to that location. The App does not continuously track or store a history of your movements, and you can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings (some features that rely on location will then be limited).

b. Search and usage input

When you search for a route, stop or location, that query is sent to our servers and — for place/location search — to OpenStreetMap's geocoding service to return results. These queries are not linked to your identity.

c. Device and diagnostic information

To keep the App reliable, we use Google Firebase tools that may collect standard technical information such as device model, operating-system version, app version, language, anonymous/app-instance identifiers, crash reports, and basic usage events (for example, which screens are opened). This helps us fix crashes and improve the App. It is not used to personally identify you.

d. Push notification token

If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging assigns your installation a token so we can send service messages such as important updates about the App. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

e. Information we do not collect

No account, login, name, email address or phone number is required to use the App.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, messages, or call history.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

2. How we use information

To show bus stops, routes and live bus positions near you.
To return search results for routes, stops and locations.
To power the arrival alarm, bookmarks and journey features you choose to use.
To diagnose crashes, monitor performance and improve the App.
To send you optional service notifications about the App.

3. Permissions the App may request

Location (precise & approximate) — to show nearby stops, nearby routes and live buses on the map.
Notifications — to deliver service and update messages (optional).
Camera — only if you use an optional QR-scan feature; the camera is never used in the background.
Internet / network access — to load map data, routes and live bus information.

You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time from your device settings.

4. Third-party services

The App relies on a small number of trusted services to function. Each handles data under its own privacy policy:

Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics and Cloud Messaging) and Google Maps Platform for the map display — Google Privacy Policy.
Delhi Open Transit Data (OTD) — the Government of NCT of Delhi's public real-time bus feed, used to show live bus positions (otd.delhi.gov.in).
OpenStreetMap — used for location/place search (OSMF Privacy Policy).
Our own servers (operated under the animekill.com domain) that store Delhi bus route and stop data and answer the App's lookups.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers listed above, strictly to operate the features of the App, or where required by law.

6. Data retention

We keep diagnostic and analytics data only as long as needed to keep the App working well, after which it is deleted or anonymised according to the retention periods of the Firebase tools. Because there is no account, there is no personal profile to delete — uninstalling the App removes the data stored on your device.

7. Security

Data in transit between the App and our servers and third-party services is protected using encrypted HTTPS connections. While no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

8. Children's privacy

The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

9. Your choices

Turn location, camera or notification permissions on or off in your device settings.
Limit ad/analytics identifiers using your device's privacy controls.
Uninstall the App at any time to stop all data collection by the App.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may also be communicated within the App.

DTC Bus Services is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of the Delhi Transport Corporation or the Government of NCT of Delhi. Live bus data is sourced from the publicly available Delhi Open Transit Data feed.
